In the past, the Black Diamond Labor Days button was used to pay for the festival.  Although the mining Company let the miners use their property for the celebration, the miners had to fund it themselves.  The price of the button has changed little over the years and is still $1.
Today the button is still used to raise money for the festival but it is more of a collectors item now, very little is made from the proceeds raised selling buttons.  It does pay for the raffle and the cost of buttons.  The design contest is used to pick the Royalty for the celebration.

This year we are bringing back all our previous Queens & Kings in the parade to celebrate our history.
